Quilting Club

Have you ever wondered, "How'd They Do That?" All levels of quilting ability welcome! We will gather on Monday nights to teach quilting and share quilting skills, patterns and ideas. Get inspired to start a new project or finish some UFOs. Hand or machine quilters welcomed and encouraged. You will need to bring fabric and quilting tools. If you are not sure what you need, quilters love to share.

Tools quilters LOVE: 100% Cotton fabric by the yard or for convenience and variety; Charm Packs, Fat Quarters and Jelly Rolls, Rotary Cutter and Cutting Mat, Quilting Rulers 6"x24", 6"x6" & 12.5"x12.5", Quilting pins, Fabric Scissors (sharp) small nippers and large shears. Thread: Cotton/quilting in neutral colors, beige, off-white or gray.

 

Quilting for Beginners

If you have never quilted before but are eager to give it a try, this is the class for you!  With guidance and assistance, step by step, all participants will complete a quilt during this three to four week class.

Reading Skills for College

Effective reading comprehension is essential to success at the college level. This course is designed to help students improve reading comprehension and the ability to engage in critical analysis. An emphasis is placed on developing vocabulary and improving reading speed. Assignments introduce students to college level textbooks, outlining strategies, and critical researching skills.

This band is made up of people who wish to continue playing their instruments. All skill levels are welcome. We meet once a week to prepare for our various concerts and performances. We perform about 5-6 times a year. We do a Christmas Concert, a Spring Concert, and the Adult Education Graduation.

The band meets Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:00pm at the Centenary United Methodist Church on Dr. Mann Road in Skowhegan.

Kenneth Martin, music director, would like to invite all singers to join the members of the Skowhegan Community Chorus every Monday from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Centenary United Methodist Church, Dr. Mann Road in Skowhegan. 

Rehearsals for the Fall Season begin Monday September 16, 2019. 

The Community Chorus has two or three concerts in December.  No auditions are required. 

Cost: $20 admission fee to help cover music cost.

Learn how to make soap using the hot process method. Handmade soaps are all-natural and make excellent gifts! Come learn about this quick and easy technique! This is a one-night workshop. Students will need $25.00 to cover supplies (give to instructor on the night of class). All students will be able to take their loaf of soap home with them!
