Improve Your Guitar Playing

The focus will be songs: songs that each student would like to learn, improve, and perfect. Within that context we will discuss key signatures, chord progressions, melody, signing, meaning, music theory, capos, and performance. Other topics and questions will be addressed as needed. No class on 2/19/25.
Computer Programming Basics Using Python

In this nine-week class participants will learn the fundamentals of computer programming using the Python language. This course is for the complete beginner or someone with slight exposure to programming. Mr. Greer brings a wealth of experience, having worked in IT since 2004.
Students will need either a PC or Mac desktop or laptop computer (no Chromebooks) and a reliable internet connection.

Join Steve Kautz, Financial Education Programs Specialist from the Finance Authority of Maine for this 1-hour virtual workshop as we explore fundamental money skills.
Intermediate Programming with Python

Join experienced Python instructor Dean Greer as he takes you beyond the basics of Python. In this next phase, you’ll build upon the fundamentals with topics like data structures, intermediate control structures, how to practice coding effectively, and module importation.
Problem solving using previously learned fundamentals will be emphasized in addition to further instruction material. The typical prerequisite for this course is “Programming Basics Using Python,” but those with adequate experience, should feel free to sign up. Students will need either a PC or Mac desktop or laptop computer (no Chrome Books) and a reliable internet connection.
Photoshop - Independent Study & Projects
with Lynn Perry
Photoshop students from previous sessions will continue this fall in an eight-week independent study format. Students will fine tune their projects using photo enhancement for lighting, color and size; and add artistic elements with filters, text and framing.
Others who have been using Photoshop Elements or Photoshop are welcome to join the group for project support. The aim of this class is not traditional instruction but to create a place for group sharing, support and experimentation.
Tech Spot - Skowhegan Location

The Tech Spot is a School and Community Project that offers technology advice and tutoring to adults from throughout our school district.
Examples of possible help sessions include general computer operation, conducting web searches, using Facebook and other social media programs, and operating Smart phones, iPads, Tablets, and PCs. Assistance with some software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) is available as well.

FAME - Scholarship Searches and Applications
Scholarships can go a long way in helping students cover college costs, but being successful in the scholarship application process can take some work. In this session you’ll learn to build and work your own scholarship application plan. You’ll also learn about and try out different scholarship websites, learn how to best use a scholarship information tracker, and learn to avoid some of the challenges of the scholarship process.
Students and parents interested in learning about the scholarship process can join Jessica Whittier, College Access Counselor with the Finance Authority of Maine for this 1-hour workshop as we talk scholarships.

In just a few hours, you can learn enough secrets of the trade to give you years of musical enjoyment. Learn to play piano the way professionals do: using chords. The chord method is LOTS of fun and dramatically easier to learn than reading notes.
Fee includes the online book, online follow up lessons, a recording of the class and an optional periodic question and answer session. Held online using Zoom, the class is partly hands-on instruction and partly lecture/demonstration.
