Introduction to Microsoft Office Suite 2016

This course will cover Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. This class is perfect for those wishing to gain computer skills for career advancement, or just for personal enrichment. This class is for beginners. This class is taught in the SAHS Computer Lab on desktop computers using Microsoft Office 2016. You are welcome to bring your own PC laptop to class.

Participants should have a basic knowledge of the keyboard. BRING THUMBDRIVE or FLASHDRIVE to save work.

 

Crossbow Hunter Safety

This course is being taught by a trained, certified volunteer instructor according to statewide standards. Russell will cover basic knowledge of bow hunting and safety skills. This classroom course consists of 5 hours of classroom instruction. Students must demonstrate to the instructor that they can safely handle a crossbow, participate in activities and pass a 50 question test with a grade of at least 70%. PREREQUISITE: Bow Hunter Safety Course

Quilting for Beginners

If you have never quilted before but are eager to give it a try, this is the class for you!  With guidance and assistance, step by step, all participants will complete a quilt during this three to four week class.

Upon registration, instructor will email students regarding needed supplies. The estimated cost of these supplies will be $50.

Portraiture

You will need to bring a DSLR with a flash (on camera is fine) to class for this exciting workshop in portraiture.

We will explore studio lighting, and the various methods of setting up lighting scenarios. There will be strobes and flash units available and the class will fully participate in making their own portraits. Enter the exciting world of portraiture and learn to take your own family portraits, senior pictures or even capture images of your beloved family pet.

 

Flatwater Paddles on Local Waters

Come along and paddle with Sam Horrine on flatwater in the Skowhegan area. The scenery may seem pretty from the shore but wait until you see it from the water! Each afternoon adventure will require your own canoe or kayak, personal flotation device, and paddle(s).

  • The first meeting on March 24 will be held at SAHS to review safety and to identify locations. Weather permitting, other classes will be held on the second and fourth Tuesdays in April and May.

Introduction to Photography

What is the rule of thirds? Why are my images boring? Why does my friend take the same picture as I do and her picture looks better? Bring your camera to class and learn how to make a great image rather than simply take a photograph. We will focus on what constitutes a great image and how to think about composition, lighting and subject matter. We will compare and contrast work by contemporary artists in order to understand how to develop our own unique statements as photographers.

Bring your digital camera or portable device with camera to this workshop.

 

Woman's Wellness Toolbox

As a practitioner, educator, coach and consultant, Barbara has been leading workshops and facilitation individual sessions in personal enrichment, energy healing, helath and wellness, self-care, environmental and lifestyle skills and solutions for 30 years. She is passionate about living joyfully and making a difference.

Medicare 101

New to Medicare? This session will review a wide variety of information to help you navigate the waters.  We will review how to obtain Medicare, when you are eligible and many other important topics including supplemental insurance to compliment original Medicare.

If you are currently enrolled in Medicare - come get a refresher on the basics and better understand the choices available to you and when you can make the changes.  There are many different products and carriers availabe when you can make changes. 

There are many different products and carriers available as well as various enrollment perods which give you the opportunity to change your policy if appropriate. 

Anyone with questions about Medicare will find this class helpful.
