Tech Spot - Bingham Location

The Tech Spot is a School and Community Project that offers technology advice and tutoring to adults from throughout our school district.
Examples of possible help sessions include general computer operation, conducting web searches, using Facebook and other social media programs, and operating Smart phones, iPads, Tablets, and PCs. Assistance with some software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) is available as well.

Reading and Writing Skills for College Prep

If you are planning to take or are currently enrolled in a college reading or writing class, this class is for you.
Reading/Writing Skills will help students improve reading comprehension and critical analysis; in addition, it will cover the grammar and writing skills that are required for success in college level courses.
Algebra and Number Skills: Online College Support

Note: This class will be offered virtually through a combination of email, texting, Zoom, and/or online learning. Students may occasionally be required to come to Skowhegan Area High School for testing. A math CASAS score of 225 or above is recommended for this class.
These online tutoring sessions will help support students who are enrolled or are prepariung to enroll in Algebra I and/or entry-level college math.

Life Skills
with Jean Philpot

In this class, especially designed for adults with learning challenges, students will enhance everyday life skills by improving their basic reading, writing, and problem-solving proficiencies.
Participants will work toward developing customer service, teamwork, and business skills by operating a small café.
Learners set their own individualized goals and work toward them in a safe, nurturing, and creative environment. Contact the Adult Education office for additional information.

How to Cast a Fly Rod: The first step to fly fishing

Learn the foundamentals of casting on a one-to-one basis. Beginners to advanced casters will learn or improve the basic cast, roll cast, and mends. In addition you will learn line management, casting in wind, hauling, and other useful tasks.
The class will be held OUTDOORS. Dress for outdoor practice. Also bring a hat and sunglasses. Bring a 4-7 wt. leader with a practice fly. Dates of class can be flexible if weather conditions prevent a class. Particpants will be notified accordingly.
Ukulele for Beginners, May Start
with Duncan Perry

Online – Four Sessions
Learn to play the ukulele! It has never been more popular, and you don't even have to know how to read music! On the uke you can knock out folk music, rock, blues, jazz, pop, and country tunes --even classical music. Duncan Perry, who has taught more than 1000 students of all ages, will introduce you to essential chords and playing techniques using commonly known songs. Music will be provided, and by the end of class, participants will receive a total of 66 songs
You will need a playable ukulele and an electronic tuner or a tuner app. If you don’t own a ukulele, please contact us for information. What are you waiting for? Grab a uke and get ready for a musical adventure!
Note: No senior disocunt available for this class.
Duncan is an experienced multi-instrumentalist who has been performing and teaching folks how play the ukulele for the last 14 years.

Skowhegan Area Community Band
with Les Tomlinson
This band is for people who wish to continue playing their instruments, and all skill levels are welcome. We meet once a week to prepare for our various concerts and performances, including a Christmas Concert, a Spring Concert, and the Adult Education Graduation. The band meets Wednesday nights from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Centenary United Methodist Church on Dr. Mann Road in Skowhegan.
